Antonin Strantsouzin was born in Lorient, France in 1990, graduated in the fine arts school of Brest, he now lives and works in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Antonin Strantsouzin’s practice is similar to that of a flâneur. His area of artistic exploration revolves around a light practice, far from the idea of a sensational art. His inspiration comes from observing insignificant details. The absurd, the reversal of paradigms, illogicality, chance and accidents are tools that he uses to develop a repertoire of varied plastic forms, which are distinguished by a heterogeneity of materials, references and which, beyond seemingly simple, reveal the complexity of a slow process of exploration. Like the protagonists of “Bouvard and Pécuchet”, an unfinished novel by Gustave Flaubert, whose every attempt in their quest for truth ends in failure, the approach of Antonin Stransouzin is a poetic wandering in a contemporary artistic landscape.
