About the artists and show concept:
Hortense Thibault Briffaut (b. 1968, France) is a painter, writer, and queer artist. In her latest series she pushes still life into a state of uneasy aliveness: vegetables “bleed,” fruits crack, and colors burst like wounds. Between a kitchen and a silent battlefield, between beauty and unease, between banality and gentle violence, her paintings breathe. Sometimes they creak. Sometimes they whisper loudly. They are alive, yet they mourn the world’s suffering — as does their author. Hortense’s work has been shown in France, Spain, and England. This one-night pop-up at Little Bird Place is her first exhibition in the Balkans.
