In the fall of 2022, Zachari Logan painted the plants during his stay at the Little Bird Leshten Art Residency, looking at flowers plucked from the garden and placed in a vase. Zachari leaves the work unfinished, handing it over to Lyuben Domozetski to finish it. Lyuben wants to finish the work again in Leshten, and for that he waits until their joint residence in the spring of 2023. He adds butterflies, considering flowers to be the best habitat for these insects. After almost finishing the butterflies, Lyuben notices how organically the two parts (plants and butterflies) coexist and how they are painted with an equal amount of care and attention. Then the first word that pops into Domozetsky’s mind is “NOT MADE BY HUMAN HANDS”. This is an epithet which, according to the Orthodox tradition, was used for a fleeting image of Christ that miraculously appeared on a piece of cloth, that is, it is an epithet of the first icon. Then Lyuben Domozetski thought of a very famous icon, today in France, in the city of Laon, but originating probably from Bulgaria, and decided to draw the face of Christ, referring to the Laon icon and to the idea of not being made by hands. Under the icon in Old Bulgarian is written “NOT MADE BY HUMAN HANDS”.
