Sirma Sarafova – Orahovac was born on March 28, 1937 in Sofia. She is the granddaughter of the great Bulgarian actor Krastyo Sarafov. The art of Sirma Sarafova – Orahovac goes through several periods. In the 60’s and 70’s these were portraits, landscapes and still lifes, created with airy ease, with the application of light sparing color spots. In 2006, when she exhibited at the Sofia Press Gallery at the invitation of Olimpia Nikolova, her works were compared with the style of Eastern watercolors and the laconicism of haiku. After this exhibition, her art is characterized with search of a more decorative language, and the collection and use of various objects completely changed its appearance.
