This image represents a contact network of small pieces of DNA present in a river with the sweet name of Yvette near Paris, obtained via a meta3C experiment. Each group of pieces of DNA of the same colour may represent DNA from the same organism. Each link corresponds to at least one physical contact. This same type of network can be visualized by looking at the structure of social networks with groups of friends.
