This is Lyuben Domozetski’s fifth solo exhibition, presenting artworks created in the last 6 months. Unlike all the previous shows of the author, in which the topic of scientific illustration prevailed, in the current project the artist directs his attention to artworks that are closer to the traditions of icon painting. The plants and animals, that have always interested Lyuben Domozetski, are present too, but in a new visual context and a new look. The works touch on topics such as domestication and cultivation, for the first time potted plants appear in the author’s paintings, but also a continuation of interpretations of biblical themes and motifs, the reflection on the definition of “iconic” and “altar”, the theme of the perception of one’s own body, temptation, opposition of earthly and heavenly. Also, in some of the artworks, the artist develops the interpretation of ceramic works started in his previous exhibition and their recreation in paintings. In addition to the predominant works with tempera on wood, typical for Domozetski’s style, experiments with watercolour, drawing and oil are also presented. The name of the exhibition is taken from the name of one of the artworks, representing the main stylistic-plastic and iconographic sources that influence Domozetski’s work, and help to find the key to the often highly encrypted messages sent by the artist.
