Little Bird Place Gallery at Sofia Art Fair (SAF25) with Alexander Lazarkov, Nora Ampova, and Lyuben Domozetski

Press Release: Little Bird Place Gallery at Sofia Art Fair (SAF25) with Alexander Lazarkov, Nora Ampova, and Lyuben Domozetski

Sofia, 2 October 2025 — Little Bird Place Gallery will participate in the second edition of Sofia Art Fair, presenting visual artists Lyuben Domozetski, Nora Ampova, and Alexander Lazarkov at the John Atanasoff Forum – Sofia Tech Park, from 3 to 5 October, with the official opening on 2 October at 6PM.

Sofia Art Fair has established itself as a key platform for contemporary art in Bulgaria — a forum that connects galleries, curators, collectors, and audiences. The successful first edition in 2024 placed Sofia on the map of European contemporary art fairs. Now, the second edition builds on this momentum and unfolds the theme IMAGINE — an invitation to imagination as a tool for new perspectives — to new audiences and partnerships.

Fair program

“Sofia Art Fair is the platform in Bulgaria for developing the relationship between contemporary art, new audiences, and the international stage,” said Boris Cheshirkov of Little Bird Place Gallery.

Little Bird Place Gallery supports contemporary art that explores nature, ecology, and the human–environment relationship, and is recognized in the Bulgarian scene for a strong program of exhibitions by both established and emerging Bulgarian and international artists. Each exhibition is guided by an broad curatorial vision and a deep commitment to environmental and social themes. The gallery has strengthened its international presence following successful participations by Little Bird Place at viennacontemporary 2025 and Sofia Art Fair 2024.

In its presentation at Sofia Art Fair 2025, the gallery brings together three distinct artistic positions with a shared sensitivity to nature and the human experience — Lyuben Domozetski, Alexander Lazarkov, and Nora Ampova.

Nora Ampova (b. 1989) is an artist based in Sofia. She holds a BA and MA (2008–2014) from the National Academy of Arts, Sofia. In 2011, she specialized in Fine Arts at the University of Hertfordshire, UK, through the Erasmus program. She has realized numerous solo exhibitions and collaborative projects in Bulgaria and abroad. While she works in painting, her artistic practice also encompasses collage, drawing, and digital art. Personal experience and the exploration of the human–nature relationship form the basis of her work. She is strongly engaged with themes such as isolation, solitude, self-sufficiency, and travel. In 2016, Ampova received the Young Artist Award from the Stoyan Kambarev Foundation.

Alexander Lazarkov (b. 1999) is a visual artist whose practice spans painting, installation, and sculpture. He graduated in Painting from the National Academy of Arts and participated in the Erasmus program at the University of the Basque Country in Bilbao. His works exist at the boundary between science and poetics. Through organic materials, modular structures, and diagrammatic compositions, Lazarkov investigates the hidden structures of the natural and technological world. His works are often informed by physics, chemistry, and ecological processes. Lazarkov has held more than ten solo exhibitions and has taken part in over 50 group projects in Bulgaria and abroad. He is a two-time finalist for the BAZA Award and was nominated for the Stoyan Kambarev Foundation Award in 2022.

Lyuben Domozetski (b. 1988) is an artist, curator, and art historian based in Sofia. He holds a BA and a PhD in Art Studies from the National Academy of Arts. Since 2015, he has been a curator at the Sofia City Art Gallery. His practice moves between visual research, ecological narratives, and cultural archaeology. Drawing on the natural sciences, art history, and ecology, Domozetski creates multilayered works that explore the relationship between observation and memory. He has presented solo exhibitions and participated in group projects in Bulgaria and across Europe. In 2023, his works addressed the fragility of natural systems and the significance of cultural continuity, establishing him as one of the leading voices in contemporary Bulgarian art.

In parallel with its participation in SAF25, Little Bird Place Gallery will be open to visitors with SWAMPING (Заблатяване), a solo exhibition by Maria Nalbantova curated by Lyuben Domozetski. Gallery hours (7, 11th August Street): Wednesday–Saturday, 15:00–19:00.
